This poster deliver a "Second line" message of prevention: the link between HIV contamination and one side effect of condom (the sporadic impotence that condom sporadicaly reveal or even induce). The target of the poster is to exhibit this reality which his "taboo" in the male's world and often unknown in the female's world. Typically, the male who fear that side effect will hide/deny it and switch to other arguments to justify his refusal of safe attitude ("...no feeling..", "...delayed orgasm..", "...flesh to flesh is better...", "...not natural..", etc. Such kind of argument are not credible since nobody will refuse a Mercedes Benz because he prefers a a booby-trap Roll Royce). One other common argument "argument" merit a specific remark: "...Condoms are too little..". It is possible to wear the most little condom on any fist, but it is nearly impossible to unroll it on a penis which do not have enough hardness (due to age, excess of sexual activities, etc). This kind of problem is less connected with psychological stress and a psychological approach could not be so efficient than a reduction of sexual activities or erectile medication.
Underlying strategy of the poster:
WOMEN SHOULD KNOW ABOUT FEARS OF MEN, including impotence, to be able to elaborate protective strategies. Sometimes, a simple conversation can make man more self confident. Sometimes the best way is that she put the condom on his penis by herself. Sometimes, safe stimulation can make man forget his anxiety. There are many tips which can help but "to know" is the first requirement. There are still too many women who simply feel guilty in such circumstance (she can think that she is not beautifull enough, too fat, etc.)
INCREASE MAN'S AUTOANALYSE. Man should be more alert about his own tendency to mask humiliating truth. The perpetual effort to amphazised stupid excuses like "...no feeling.." is a strong argument is leading to a suicidal or killing attitude.
Dissemination
This poster -because its sensitive topic- is difficult to be disseminated in public places. But such poster, because it can be consider as funny as well, can be show in waiting rooms of hospitals, in woman's magazines, in gays saunas and discos..
The poster can be use to induce conversation during concealing or in sexual education curses, etc.
